HISTORY

1949
Kiichi Matsuoka founded Matsuoka Ironworks as a sole proprietorship in Yamanouchi, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto. -
1952
The company expanded its staff and facilities, grew as a subcontractor with its local parent company, and began to develop machinery during the time of industrial reconstruction. -
1955
The company developed coating machines for metallic threads used in Kyoto Nishijin obi (sash) fabrics, paper, and films. -
1960
A new plant was built in Uzumasa, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto; we developed wet laminating, dry laminating, and embossing equipment for metallic threads. -
1974
The company name was renamed and the organization was reorganized to establish Matsuoka Machinery Corporation. -
1979
A new factory was built for large machinery in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto. -
1981
Yoshiyuki Matsuoka took over as President. -
1986
To expand its business and improve the operational efficiency, the head office was relocated from Uzumasa, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto to Fushimi-ku, Kyoto and was integrated with the factory.

2012
- Kenta Matsuoka took over as President.
- To improve operational efficiency, the company withdrew from machining and assembling parts, and renovated its manufacturing foundation.
- Demonstration machines for manufacturing rechargeable batteries and semiconductors were installed at R&D Center.

2013
- A sales agency in China was established.
- Selected as Kyoto City Oscar Certified Company.

2014
3D CAD (SOLIDWORKS) software, computational fluid dynamic software (Ansys Fluent), and structural analysis software (SOLIDWORKS Simulation) were introduced. -
2017
Selected as one of the “Companies Driving Regional Growth” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. -

WHAT’S MATSUOKA
We design, manufacture, and sell customized roll coaters that apply liquids to base materials (e.g., films, metal foil, and nonwoven fabrics) used in the converting (Convertech) industry, and customized roll presses that adjust the thickness of the base materials.
We have delivered manufacturing machines and test equipment for researchers in various industries including OLEDs, tablets, smartphones, LCDs, and electric vehicles.
In recent years, we have been conducting R&D and business development centered on manufacturing machines for rechargeable batteries and semiconductors. -

HISTORY
In 1949, Kiichi Matsuoka founded Matsuoka Ironworks in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto as a sole proprietorship and worked in machine repair and machine parts machining. In 1974, Yoshiyuki Matsuoka, the second President, established Matsuoka Machinery Corporation that has successively developed coating machines used for color-coating of polyester films with special paints in manufacturing processes for metallic threads in the local industry in Kyoto.
In 2012, Kenta Matsuoka took over as the third President, and has been refining the technology cultivated in the company to contribute to the electronics industry.
