Slot Die Coater
The method here involves, with a backup roll, a slot die, a tank, and a pump, directly coating a base material with coating liquid supplied through the slot die (mold).
Features
- The machine covers a wide range of coating film thicknesses from 5 to 300 µm.
- The film thickness distribution is ±3% or less.
- The piping system remains not in contact with the atmosphere. Thus, the composition of the liquid is less likely to change and is less susceptible to external disturbances.
- The slot die can be rotated upward and downward about the center of the roll.
- The roll has a rotational runout accuracy of 3 μm or less.
- Compared with other coating methods, it is more expensive due to the extensive use of molds.

Conventional technologies have problems of buildup at the start of coating and streaking at the end of coating, but our unique method has achieved a film thickness distribution of ±2%.
Slot Die Design
We use computational fluid dynamic software to design a slot die that matches the customer’s coating fluid. Before installing the slot die, we need to prepare samples with the demonstration machine for evaluation.
